About

Medical Management Innovations, Inc. provides field case management in workers' compensation workers’ compensation in Illinois and bordering areas of the surrounding states. We also provide telephonic case management regardless of the location. Through partner companies, we can handle limited assignments, scheduling and attending IMEs and peer/records reviews nationwide.

Since its founding in 1997, MMI has been the go-to case management provider for many small and medium sized insurance companies and Third Party Administrators writing in Illinois and the surrounding states.

We’re not a big national firm – and our customers prefer it that way. Unlike the big guys, our size allows us to be adaptable, be nimble, and offer personalized service. And, because of our commitment to exceptional service, knowledge of the insurance industry and various state jurisdictions, and medical knowledge, we have assisted many claim handlers in resolving their claims. Regardless of where your claim is filed in Illinois or another state, our case managers are able to assist you. If we are not able to personally complete the needed activity, we have a network of other Independent Case management companies to assist us in getting what you need done.

Sue began her nursing career in a hospital setting in the Coronary Care Unit, Respiratory Step-down and Medical Intensive Care units. She then established the Organ Donation Program and Transplant Coordinator position at a large teaching hospital. Sue began working as a Medical Case Manager for a national company in the areas of workers’ compensation, health insurance and liability and later for a mono-line workers’ compensation carrier.

It was never my intention to start a business. But, after seven years as a case manager I felt medical case management could be done differently, with less rigidity and more flexibility. So with a little preparation, I gave my notice on April Fools’ Day 1997! Two days later, we opened our doors as MMI of Illinois. Since then, my hunch has paid off. The company continues to grow along with feedback about our flexibility and professional service.

Throughout her career, she has been involved in many industry organizations. She was previously a member and served on the Board of The Workers’ Compensation Claims Association and the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers, and she is currently a member of the Case Management Society of America, The Greater Peoria Claims Association as well as the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. She serves on the Board of Kids’ Chance Inc. of Illinois serving on both the Fundraising and the Scholarship Committees and as the National Delegate.
